Service Recommendations

When should I service my vehicle?
Most automobile manufacturers recommend:

At every 3,000 to 5,000:

Rotate Tires
Oil & Filter
General Check Over (check owners manual)

At every 30,000 miles Inspect
and replace:

Belts, Hoses, Fuel Filter, Check all fluids.
Air Filter, Coolant, Oil and Filter.
Differential Fluids, Transmission Fluid and Filter.
Check Owners Manual.

Timing Belts:

If your vehicle is equipped with a timing belt, manufacturers recommend replacement at 60,000 or 90,000 miles (some at 105,000). If your timing belt breaks, the engine will no longer run. On some engines, when the belt breaks, major engine damage can occur. The most common event is the valves hitting the pistons. When this happens, the cylinder head will need to be removed and the valves replaced. This could be a very costly procedure, so play it safe by replacing the belt at the manufacturers recommended intervals.

Be prepared for added costs when having your timing belt replaced. The most common items that need to be replaced along with the belt are the water pump, camshaft and crankshaft oil seals, idlers and tensioners. Some water pumps are timing belt driven and should definitely be replaced when replacing the belt. If any of the oil seals are leaking, they will severely diminish the life of the belt. Timing belts run on tensioners and some have idlers which usually incorporate a bearing. Bearings do go bad after a certain amount of time and should be checked and replaced as required.
